Lottery Pool Agreement: A Free Template for Office and Family Groups
2026-10-14 · 6 min read
What to include in a lottery pool agreement — members, contributions, who buys and holds tickets, how prizes are split — plus a plain-text template.
Most lottery pool disputes come from things nobody wrote down: who paid that week, whether a late member is in, or whether a free-play ticket belongs to the group. A one-page written agreement prevents almost all of them.
What to include
- Group name and the games played (for example Lotto Max every Tuesday and Friday)
- Every member's full name and contribution per draw
- The organizer who buys the tickets, and the deadline for paying in
- What happens if someone does not pay before the draw (they are out for that draw)
- That copies or photos of every ticket are shared before the draw
- How prizes are split (equally per paid share) and how small wins are handled (reinvested or paid out)
- How a member joins or leaves
- Signatures and date
Template
We, the undersigned, agree to pool money to buy lottery tickets as the [group name]. Each member contributes $[amount] per draw for [games]. [Organizer] buys the tickets and shares a photo of every ticket with all members before the draw. Only members who have paid before ticket purchase share in that draw. All prizes are divided equally among paid members for that draw. Prizes under $[amount] are reinvested in the next draw. A member may leave by giving notice before the next purchase. Signed: ______ Date: ______
Odds don't change by pooling
Pooling increases how many lines the group holds, so the group's chance rises in proportion — but so does the number of people sharing any prize. Read our syndicate strategies guide for the maths.
