Lotto Max Maxmillions Explained: How the $1 Million Prizes Work

2026-10-14 · 5 min read

What Maxmillions are, when they appear in Lotto Max draws, how they are won, and the real odds of matching a Maxmillions line.

Maxmillions are extra $1 million prizes added to Lotto Max draws once the main jackpot reaches a high threshold set by the operators. When they are active, extra seven-number combinations are drawn alongside the main numbers.

How to win one

You must match all seven numbers of a Maxmillions combination exactly, using one of the three selections on your ticket. There is no bonus number and no partial prize for a Maxmillions line. If a Maxmillions prize is not won it is not carried forward the same way as the main jackpot.

Odds

Each Maxmillions combination is chosen from the same 1–52 pool, so the odds of matching one specific Maxmillions line with one selection are 1 in 133,784,560 — the same as the main jackpot. More Maxmillions combinations in a draw means proportionally more chances, but the odds per line stay the same.
